I think Driscoll has some really good things to say. As someone who has dealt with health problems most of my life, I have always found Joel Osteen's message very sad and misleading.
We ARE set free from the bondage of sin when we come to Christ, but it doesn't change the fact that the world (and we) are still sinners, and therefore we will struggle with pain and hardships throughout our earthly life. But hope is not lost. God still gives us many, many joys in this world, and promises us that our victory will TRULY come when we go to be with Him.
i have a big problem with joel osteen. he does not speak the truth & is leading many many people completely away from truly knowing the Lord. josh & i visited his church once when we were in houston, & we left having never felt the presence of the Lord in that building. its scary. so yay for mark driscoll bringing this deception to light!
Mark Driscoll says it well. I'm so glad that he used Jesus Himself to prove how misleading Joel can be. It's so frustrating that we have a big preacher like Joel, trying to reach a lost world; telling them that Christianity is nothing but good, warm fuzzies!!!! How wrong! That's the biggest misconception I have come across in talking with people who have considered Christ, and when they dont experience this "victorious" life as Joel puts it, they think we're all a bunch of fakes. ARG! Anyway, thanks for posting that! On a happy note, We hope all is going so very well for all of you, especially that precious baby! :)
